Privacy policy

At Marks Electrical, we understand that your privacy is important. This policy details the personal data we collect from you, why we need it and what we do with it. It also explains the legal basis for our processing of your data.

What data do we collect?

Marks Electrical retains the name(s), physical and email address(es) and any phone numbers provided for delivery and billing when placing an order along with the products and services ordered and any notes or special instructions provided by the customer relating to the delivery.

We collect payment details when you place an order but we do not store these. They are securely transmitted to our payment providers who process payments on our behalf.

If you contact us in relation to a customer service issue, we will retain whatever information you send to us including photographs in order to resolve your query. We do not use this information for any other purpose.

If you request that our sales team contact you, they will do so using either phone or email, depending on which methods you provide.

How do we use your data?

We use your personal data to enable us to complete our contractual obligations to you as a customer including delivery and after sales services.

As a legitimate business interest, we will contact you shortly after your products have been delivered to ask for feedback on our service. We also use Feefo and Trustpilot (see sharing data below) to ensure feedback is handled by impartial companies.

We or our service providers may contact you via email with offers related to items you have bought from us as a legitimate business interest to maintain a relationship with existing customers. You can opt out of this while you are placing an order or at any time after by following an unsubscribe link in an email.

Your personal data will be handled by Marks Electrical employees but may also be available to approved IT service providers who need some level of access to help us maintain our IT systems.

How do we process your payment?

To complete payment via credit or debit card, we will collect, and securely transmit to our payment processor, your payment card details, I.P. address, email address, phone numbers, billing address and, if different, delivery address. Marks Electrical do not store your payment card details. Our payment processors are Opayo and Apexx.

To complete a finance payment, we will securely transmit your full contact details and the value of your order to the finance provider you choose, who will start the finance application process. They will then securely send us the outcome of your application. The finance providers we work with are:

If you pay via PayPal checkout, PayPal will send us your billing and delivery address when they confirm payment.

If you pay via Amazon Pay checkout, Amazon will send us your billing and delivery address when they confirm payment.

Who do we share data with?

When you purchase items sold by us as agents of Euronics we will share your address, contact and order details with Euronics. This is done under our contractual obligation with Euronics as a legitimate business interest allowing them to verify genuine sales.

If you purchase an extended warranty we will share your contact and order details with UK Warranties Limited as part of the contract. You also have the option to request a quotation for an extended warranty during the checkout process, in which case we will also share these details with UK Warranties Limited.

In some cases an item you purchase may be eligible for a free extended warranty provided either by the manufacturer or a separate warranty provider (e.g. Domestic & General). In this instance, we will send them your contact and order details so they can confirm that your product is registered and covered by their warranty. When this applies to items sold by us as agents of Euronics this is a condition of the sale.

When we deliver your items using our in-house delivery service we will transmit your address, contact and order details to Maxoptra for the purpose of delivery route optimization and to provide you with delivery status updates.

When we use a 3rd party to deliver or install your items we will share your address, contact and order details with them. Usually this will be DPDgroup UK Ltd, although we may make use of other couriers as well.

Some items are dispatched direct from a product distribution company instead of from our own warehouse. When you purchase items which are delivered in this way we will share your address, contact and order details with the distribution company. We currently use TD Synnex, Ingram Micro, Vivanco and Westcoast for this service.

When you contact us in relation to a customer service issue we may share the information you send us with a manufacturer in order to demonstrate a fault with a product and arrange a replacement or repair.

We will share your name, email and products ordered with Trustpilot and Feefo who will ask you to write a review of your experience with Marks Electrical. We do this in order to generate verified reviews as a legitimate business interest to help maintain our high levels of service to our customers.

We may share sales data with 3rd party media suppliers that offer data matching services. We do this to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns as a legitimate business interest. All such data will be securely held by these 3rd parties and used purely for purposes of data matching.
